Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up

The family that is Hendrick Chevrolet Cadillac understands 2009 was a very tough year and we are optimistic that 2010 will be better even if only by a little. With a continuing troubled economy and tough job market, we believe our responsibility to help our fellow man is more important than ever, and we invite you to share in our vision to make a difference and help those in need. In the upcoming weeks and months we will be in full swing supporting multiple causes and we hope for your help.

March is the Annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up where our resident “BIG GUY” will be placed under arrest to bring light to the needs of those with MD. Hendrick Chevrolet Cadillac’s goal is to raise over $3,000 to ‘bail him out’ and support the Southern Piedmont Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy. Muscular Dystrophy is a group of genetic diseases that typically affect those in early life and the condition currently has no specific treatment or cure. Please help us fund the promising opportunities for advancement in this cause by clicking https://www.joinmda.org/monroenc2010/philmarshall to donate, or call the store directly at 704-289-8444 and ask for Katie. Your entire contribution benefits MDA and is tax deductible.

We are also very proud to be a 2010 participant in Union County’s Habitat for Humanity projects. Our local community has been hit hard by the economic downturn and our 1st ANNUAL CAR GIVEAWAY is the perfect opportunity to give back. Not only are the employees of Hendrick Chevrolet Cadillac physically participating in construction activities, we are selling tickets for the chance to win an exciting, new 2010 Chevrolet CAMARO, EQUINOX or COLORADO. A limited number of tickets will be available with the proceeds supporting the Union County builds and partnership with Habitat International building homes in Haiti with the drawing being held on June 26, 2010. It is our full intention to help Union County’s Habitat for Humanity reach its goals for this year, and we hope that you will partner with us. Tickets to win are available at the dealership or you may call Katie at 704-289-8444 to place an order, and they are priced $25 for an individual ticket or 5 for $100.

Many of us already know how wonderful it feels when we reach out and help make a difference in the lives of others, and we hope you will consider making a difference, too. Please join with us to support these important causes.

Out With the Old - In With the New...Happy New Year!!

Chevrolet: Update, Changes, etc. for the 2010 Model Line

AVALANCHE: The stereo gets a USB port, and 4x4 models get a single-speed transfer case; last year's low-range transfer case is now an extra-cost option.

AVEO: Horsepower is up from 106 to 108, the manual transmission gets higher 4th and 5th gear ratios for better fuel economy, and 2LT models get a standard trunk spoiler. Also new: Wintergreen Metallic paint.

CAMARO: Chevrolet re-introduced its classic sports car for 2010, with a strong emphasis on bang-for-buck: The base-model Camaro offers a 300 horsepower direct-fuel-injected 3.6 liter V6, while the Camaro SS comes with a Corvette-sourced 6.2 liter 426 horsepower V8.

COBALT: The sedan version of the hot-rod Cobalt SS is being discontinued after just one year of production. The SS Coupe lives on, and now gets a sunroof and performance computer as standard. LT models have a new MY LINK package that includes a stereo with USB input jack, Bluetooth, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, OnStar and 16" alloy wheels.

COLORADO: Side-curtain airbags are now standard, and the optional 5.3 liter V8 gets variable valve timing.

CORVETTE: All Corvettes get standard side airbags, revised interior console trim, and optional cross-flag embroidery on the seats. 'Vettes with manual transmissions get launch control and convertibles get a Z06-style trunk spoiler. Z06 buyers can now choose any color in the standard Corvette palette, including Torch Red, which returns for 2010. The new Grand Sport edition replaces the Z51 handling package on the base-model (LS3) Corvette. The Grand Sport combines the 430 hp LS3 engine with specific wheels, tires, suspension tuning, wider fenders, and Z06-size brakes with functional brake cooling ducts. Manual transmission Grand Sports get unique gearing while automatics get a specific rear axle ratio, changes which boost 0-60 times by 0.2 seconds compared to the standard LS3.

EQUNOX: The Equinox is all new for 2010, with an emphasis on sharp styling, a quieter ride, and better fuel economy. Power choices consist of a 2.4 liter direct fuel injected four-cylinder engine or an optional 3.0 liter V6, also with direct injection, and Chevy claims that both engines will run up to 500 miles between fill-ups. Features carried over from the old Equinox include a rear seat that slides 8 inches fore-and-aft, allowing owners to maximize rear-seat legroom or cargo space.

HHR: Early reports that the turbocharged HHR SS would get the axe for 2010 were, I am happy to say, wrong; the SS will be back for 2010. The HHR gets a few new paint colors and a new rear-view camera, but is otherwise unchanged.

IMPALA: The V8-powered Impala SS has been discontinued, leaving the 2.5 and 2.9 liter V6s as the sole engine choices.

MALIBU: The four-cylinder engine is now E85 flex-fuel capable, and mid-level LT models get the LTZ's six-speed automatic transmission as standard.

SILVERADO: All V8s (including the Silverado Hybrid) are now flex-fuel capable, and the 4.8 and 5.3 liter engines get variable valve timing. The 5.3 also gets a six-speed automatic and a revised rear axle ratio. All 1500 models get standard electronic stability control, seat-mounted side airbags, and side-curtain airbags. All stereos get a USB port and the backup camera is available on more models.

SUBURBAN: The 6-liter V8 is now flex-fuel capable. 4x4 models get a single-speed transfer case; a low-range transfer case is now an extra-cost option. Stereos gain a USB input port, and option packages have been revised.

TAHOE: The 5.3 liter V8 is now flex-fuel capable; other changes are similar to the SUBURBAN.

TRAILBLAZER: Discontinued.

TRAVERSE: Premium stereos get a USB input jack.

Cadillac: Update, Changes, etc. for the 2010 Model Line

CTS SEDAN: A 3-liter direct-injection V6 replaces the indirect-injected 3.6 as the base engine; output is 270 hp and 223 lb-ft, and the engine runs on regular fuel. The 304 hp 3.6 liter direct-injected V6 will continue to be offered as an option. New features include a cabin air filtration system, suede-covered steering wheel and shifter, and optional 19" polished aluminum wheels.

CTS SPORT WAGON: Cadillac has announced a station wagon version of the CTS for 2010. Though slightly shorter than the CTS sedan, the CTS Sport Wagon offers 25 feet of cargo space, accessible through a power-operated liftgate. Like the CTS sedan, the CTS Sport Wagon offers several powertrain choices: 3.0 and 3.6 liter direct-injection V6s offering 270 and 304 hp respectively; rear- or all-wheel-drive; and three levels of suspension, ranging from cushy to sporty.

CTS-V SEDAN: The 556 hp terror returns for 2010, now with an optional wood trim interior package.

DTS: Aside from a couple of new paint colors, the DTS is unchanged for 2010.

ESCALADE: The 6.2 liter V8 now gets an Active Fuel Management system that can shut down four cylinders for increased fuel economy. New side thorax airbags and a revised inner door design provide improved side-impact protection. The clock from the Platinum Edition is now standard in all models, the parking brake release has been revised, and a new battery saver shuts off power when the battery runs low from extended accessory use. The Escalade Hybrid gets flex-fuel (E85) capability and a taller rear-axle ratio for better fuel economy.

SRX: Cadillac's small crossover has been redesigned for 2010. Power comes from a 3.0 liter direct-injection 3-liter V6 producing 265 horsepower, and the new SRX features a Haldex all-wheel-drive system that can transfer up to 100% of the power to the front or rear and an electronic limited-slip rear differential that can deliver up to 85% of rear axle power to one wheel, which Cadillac says improves both traction and handling.

STS: The STS gets two new paint colors, but no other changes.

STS-V: Sadly, the 469 hp supercharged hot-rod STS has been discontinued.

XLR/XLR-V: Cadillac's hardtop-convertible Corvette clone has been discontinued for 2010.

Hendrick Hurricane Classic Golf Tournament

On behalf of the people we help through generous support of businesses like yours, the American Red Cross extends our deepest appreciation from the Union County Chapter of the American Red Cross for your consideration of donated items for the Hendrick Chevrolet Hurricane Golf Classic for the American Red Cross to be held November 5, 2009.

Hendrick Chevrolet is a Red Cross partner who selflessly implements projects in support of the community. The funds donated from their scheduled golf tournament will specifically go to the Union County Chapter to help local disaster victims. Last year we assisted 60 local families affected by house fires. Over 19,000 residents of Union and Anson Counties received benefits from our chapter last year.

We so appreciate the efforts of this local business in helping the Red Cross be prepared to Be There When Help Can’t Wait. Subsequently, we appreciate your generosity in donating items for the Hendrick Hurricane Golf Classic.

On behalf of all of the families we serve, thank you for considering a donation to support the Red Cross fundraising efforts and the Heroes Golf Tournament.

The American Red Cross is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization as described in section 501©(3) of the IRS Code for 1984, as amended. The American Red Cross does not determine the value of your gift for tax purposes. We also verify that no goods or services, in whole or in part, were received by the donor in exchange for this in-kind contribution.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters, provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply, teaches lifesaving skills, and supports military members and their families.

We are a charitable organization -- not a government agency -- and depend on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform our humanitarian mission.

Jimmy Wins, Pepsi 500 at Fontana, Ca

Written by Hendrick Motorsports
Monday, 12 October 2009 07:10
FONTANA, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2009) -- Jimmie Johnson captured the points lead in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings after pacing a race-high 126 laps and winning Sunday's Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway.
But getting to Victory Lane wasn't easy for the defending race winner. Johnson had to outrun teammates Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin on a final restart that occurred with three laps to go. Although his specially-painted No. 48 Lowe's/Jimmie Johnson Foundation Chevrolet handled better on the long runs, Johnson managed to pull away in the short time frame.
"What an awesome car, what an awesome day," said Johnson, who owns a 12-point advantage in the standings. "Those cautions at the end really had me nervous. I didn't know what to do on those restarts. I'm glad I got a good start."
Gordon gave Johnson the most competition during the final restarts and led twice for six laps before crossing the finish line second. This is the eighth time this season Gordon has taken runner-up honors and the third time he has followed a teammate for the checkered flag.
"We were just trying to make it interesting because nobody else seemed to be able to do that for the (No.) 48," said Gordon, who improves two spots to fifth in the standings. "We certainly couldn't on that last run. It was a great day for the DuPont/Pepsi Chevrolet. We fought hard all day to put ourselves in that position. To come home second today is definitely something we're proud of."
Martin started ninth and led five laps early in the race. Previously the points leader, Martin now ranks second in the standings after crossing the finish line fourth behind Johnson. This is Martn's 12th top-five finish of the season.
"I'm real proud of our Kellogg's/CARQUEST Chevrolet and our team," Martin said. "Man, these guys are so awesome. They brought me all weekend a great race car, great job, great adjustments, and we made progress with the racecar. There was a time when we could go out front. We were right there. I'm just proud. I couldn't be more thrilled to be driving that (No.) 5 car."
Dale Earnhardt Jr. climbed from his 37th starting spot and spent most of the day running in the top 10. But misfortune struck with roughly 50 laps to go when Earnhardt's No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Chevy was collected in an eight-car accident in Turn 1. After a red-flag period, the No. 88 team doctored the Chevy and sent Earnhardt back to the track. He finished 25th.
"We are doing whatever we can to stay positive," Earnhardt said. "We had a top 10 car today and it's unfortunate that a lot of good cars got tore up there at the end."
